Our colleague Gillie Jenkinson will be facilitating “Identifying and Working with Pathological Spirituality,” an important and informative presentation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Spirituality Network, a practitioner-operated group which offers a forum for peers to share learning, questions, and ethical and practiced-based concerns. The event will take place at the Carrs Lane Church Center, Birmingham, England, on Saturday, May 17, starting at 9:30 am and lasting until 12:30pm.

Gillie will compare healthy and pathological spirituality, show how to recognize extreme thought patterns, and consider the harm done in abusive groups. This interactive session, with discussion, group work, and space for consultation, will draw from Chapter 13 (‘Pathological Spirituality’) of Spirituality and Psychiatry, co-authored by Gillie Jenkinson and Dr. Nicola Crowley.
