Alexandra is social psychologist and author who specializes in the study of cults, totalitarianism and coercive persuasion and a trustee of the Family Survival Trust.
She is a former member of a political cult and documented her experiences in the book, Inside Out: A Memoir of Entering and Breaking Out of A Minneapolis Political Cult.
She offers preventative education programs and materials to help people understand how to identify and protect themselves from recruitment to cultic or extremist groups. She also provides counseling and education for former cult members, and has recently published Terror, Love and Brainwashing: The role of attachment in cults and totalitarian systems, the first thorough account of attachment theory as it relates to cult involvement.
