As soon as I heard the folks at JW podcast talking to each other, I knew I had to get Jon on their show. Not only do they share his dry, witty sense of humor, but these folks “get it,” that is, they know not only about the abuses of the organization they left behind, but also the mechanics of undue influence, and just how a coercive organization works. These survivors of the Watchtower know exactly why the Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult, and, more importantly, exactly what makes a cult a cult.
But they don’t say the “c-word” here, or, at least, they try not to. Jon joins Jaymes Payten, Louise Goode and Bill Hahn as they discuss the similarities between the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Scientology, talk about the proposed ban of JW in Russia, before taking on the important topic of how we can (and must) raise our children to be intelligently disobedient.
Provocative, funny, and informative, this podcast is a must-listen.
What do you think about this article? Do you agree? Have you read Jon’s new book? Do you have a story about raising an intelligently disobedient child you’d that like to share? We’d love to hear from you!
